How to pass the Tennessee permit test

Read the Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual from start to finish. The permit test has 30 multiple-choice questions in four sections: road signs and signals, road rules, drugs and alcohol, and safe driving. You must answer at least 24 correctly. That is 80%. Take practice tests until you score above 90% several times in a row.

Retake policy

If you fail the Tennessee knowledge test online, you must wait 24 hours before retesting and you only get 2 online attempts. If you fail at a Driver Services Center, you must wait 7 days and pay a $2 retake fee.
