About the GA DDS Knowledge Test

The Georgia DDS Knowledge Test is a written exam required for all new drivers applying for a learner’s permit or driver’s license. Here's what you need to know:

  • Number of Questions: 40 multiple-choice questions split into two sections: road signs and road rules.
  • Passing Score: You must answer at least 15 out of 20 questions correctly in each section (75%).
  • Test Duration: No official time limit, but typically completed within 30 minutes.
  • Language Options: Available in English, Spanish, and other languages.
  • Eligibility: Minimum age is 15 to apply for a learner's permit (Class CP).
  • Retake Policy: If you fail, you must wait 1 day to retake; after two failures, the wait increases to 7 days.
  • Topics Covered: Road signs, traffic laws, DUI laws, and safety regulations.
  • Test Locations: Offered at DDS Customer Service Centers across Georgia.
